Queen from Greatest Rock Bands of All Time

Queen 1 100x100

Queen are a British rock band that formed in London in 1970. Their classic line-up was Freddie Mercury (lead vocals, piano), Brian May (lead guitar, vocals), Roger Taylor (drums, vocals), and John Deacon (bass guitar). Queen's earliest works were influenced by progressive rock, hard rock and heavy metal, but the band gradually ventured into more conventional and radio-friendly works by incorporating further styles, such as arena rock and pop rock, into their music.

First 5 albums were amazing - singles band after that, but good singles. Innuendo is a hugely underrated album, and The Prophet's Song is probably better than Bohemian Rhapsody. Consistently an AMAZING live act. Huge talent in all four members. Probably the best overall band of all time from an objective perspective.

I love them!

A bit overrated, seeing as they're pretty much a good pop/rock band with a really amazing vocalist. They have a few stand outs and probably one of the best songs ever in their discography, but still.

They're more of a singles band, and not an albums band. There's nothing wrong with that, but I'm just saying it's probably a better use of money to buy two Greatest Hits albums than like seven albums where you only like two songs on each album. They're still legends though. Bohemian Rhapsody is one of the best songs ever written.

Queen might be a tiny bit over-rated though their singles and live performance speaks for it'self. Bohemian Rhapsody, We Are The Champions, We Will Rock You, A Kind Of Magic, Another One Bites The Dust, You're My Best Friend, Don't Stop Me Now, Radio Ga Ga, I Want To Break Free, One Vision and Under Pressure (which Queen and Bowie co wrote) are all great songs... Their album A Night At The Opera is always rated among the top 100 albums ever too. Firm top 30 band of all time in general, these songs have brought joy to people for 40 plus years for a reason. You would have to be the most stupid person to say that Queen are a piece of crap... Seen quite a few recently say they are shit, what is wrong with people?

Yeah, I was a bit too harsh. I was too hard on them, even though I like the Beach Boys, another mostly singles band. Queen's great guys. Just understand when you're getting too carried away.

I'll admit that they're not really an "album band". But Jesus, did they have amazing songs. Freddie Mercury is absolute legendary status to me. "Toooniiiiight I'm gonna have myssseelllllfff a real good tiiiiiimmme..."

Fantastic! From Freddie Mercury's rock operas, to Brian May's hard rocks, to John Deacon's jewels, to Roger Taylor's exploit! A genial band with a unique sound. One of my favourites

Queen had a style all their own, no one sounded like Queen before, and no one will sound like them again. When listing the greatest rock artists of all time, I put Queen in the top 10 to 20 without hesitation every time. But I have 2 problems. 1.) Their body of work includes dozens of phenomenal songs but only a few truly great albums. 2.) Maybe this isn't all the bands' fault, but the number of greatest hits compilations is, for lack of a better term, ridiculous. It's all I see when I go to the record store and look for Queen, 5 to 6 compilations with, for the most part the same songs on every one of them. Aside from that, they are legends in every sense of the word. Queen is one of the greats. They go from an 85 to a 90 for me simply because Freddie Mercury is far and away the greatest rock n roll show man and frontman possibly ever.

Queen have been my very first favourite band. Without them, I wouldn't ever have begun to listen to music seriously, and I wouldn't know the music that today today I consider the greatest. Still, objectively I find there are quite overrated and there is surely better artists by far. Love Behemian Rhapsody, Innuendo, White Queen, Show must Go On and so, hate their discography from 1977 to 1989. And I really think they could have ended Queen after Freddie's death. I still love them though.

loved Queen, I was 5 when Freddie died and I cried as they were my first favourite band. I have always loved their singles probably about 25 songs, but not their albums really. Still love the band today. I don't like what they have become since Freddie died, they are more like a karaoke band now, the best songs on here says it all that Bohemian in it 3 times... Really not good they employed Adam Lambert as their singer. They should have ended Queen after Freddie died and the remaining two went on to do other things, like other people do. All that being said all the band are great at their parts in the band, Deacon is hugely underrated compared to the other original members.

Queen probably the best live band of their time and Freddie by far the best front man in my opinion grabs an audience better than anyone all four members great throughout one of my best bands
