When the developers of the BioShock series, Irrational Games, closed their doors last year, the fans were frightened that this is probably the end of the shooter franchise. Creative Director Ken Levine has opened a small studio with a handful of developers and would like to develop smaller games which are only distributed digitally.
He gave the rights to BioShock to Publisher 2K Games, where they are still today. In May 2015, CEO Strauss Zelnick said that he had not announced a BioShock 4, but once again stressed the importance of the franchise. Since then there have been no further rumors about a possible development. However, the BioShock Collection will still appear with the first three parts on September 16, 2016 for PS4 and Xbox One.
