What i dont understand, is why he's the only melee carry without a way to lower the cd on his gap closer. He doesnt offer anything that the other melee carries dont Two steroids, built in sustain, and a gap closer. Is his passive THAT strong that he doesnt deserve mobility?

He could probably use a lower Q cd but his gapcloser is pretty strong. It's a potential aoe knock-up that can traverse most walls in the game because it behaves much like a blink. His ult's extra range is a pseudo gapcloser. I'd take Yasuo's dash over Aatrox's any day, though

The most frustrating thing is when you try to use your only gap closer and ANY kind of displament completely stops you, and your mobility is now on a 13 second cooldown. I am trying to pretty much Force Aatrox into the jg and I don't think he is in a bad place at all. I win most games, but im in low gold so that probably doesn't say much about what the champ can do. Attack speed is a must, but I really focus on CDR if I can afford it outside Deadmans plate. Thoughts?

Try look the other way around. Aatrox has high amount of sustain . But unlike the other it doesn't bind to how much damage he does(life steal). It bind to his hp scaling and how long he can hit the enemy. His Q has potential to become a mini Malphite's ult. And his AD scaling is not that good.Yes it's still hurt alot if you build full ad. But you gonna blow up so quick before you can do anything because he lack the speed that necessery .(Yi,Jax,Fiora have some source of protection and their skill are fast.). So why don't try to build as "Drain tank" as Riot intended him to be? Aatrox is not melee carry. His power lie in early to mid game while he shine the most. And use that lead to finish the game before the enemy turn the tide in the late game. His most important stat to me. is Atk speed and Tankiness. then add some % hp on-hit like ruin king or bloodrazor is enough to sustain his dmg through out the game. In team fight . Aatrox need to be deal with or else he gonna grind down everyone . even your tank(except If your team able to wipe his team first then he is nothing) . But with built in GA effect , High sustain , and protection he got from item. Good luck try to focus tank .especially if he buy another GA. His job in late game team fight is not focus on killing. His job is to waste most of your time and resource on him .While his teammate do their work. That is how the drain tank work. I have many game. that I can force enemy to make a bad trade. or bait for my team without any regard of dying(most of the time I don't even die.) . If they focus you? good work. But if they don't? Then smack everybody with your gigantic sword. With 2 steroid , bonus dmg from passive and ruinking/bloodrazor should be enough to deal high amount of damage like other melee carry.

The thing is that kda is overrated. Having bad kda and you'll be blame for feeding. Taking the role of a tank, a drain tank for that matter, would often go un-appreciated by you teammates. And it isn't appreciated for a reason, if you are an (below?) average player like me, vision control, flash/ult or other cooldowns management, etc only provide a mild advantage..

I agree,they could make it so that his CD on Q is reduced everytime he lands a basic attack,just like with Yi.

nah, they never gonna copy/paste mechanism from champions, but that would be nice if every time when Aatrox proc his (W) Blood Thirst / Blod Price the cooldown on his Q would be reduces based on the proc. For example when aatrox proc Blood Thirst the cooldown on his (Q) Dark Flight would be reduced by 0.5 sec by 1 sec whenever he proc Blood Price.

Well.with new addition of tank item .I feel like Aatrox are in really good spot. Not that best spot but he can be a beast if enemy team don't deal with him. My build list(for jungle) : Blood razor, Ruinking , Tabi , Visage , BC or something that give you huge amount of hp , and Gargoyle Stoneplate. Why Gargoy? Well it work like pseudo double the heal power for your W. with additional of huge amont of Armor and MR(80 armor and MR is huge).You can even use it after you revive to ensure your survival. Becasue It work like you revive with 60% of your original HP why you still have effect of sitting at 30% hp. meanin your W will heal so much that you have mroe change to survive in team fight. For example this build have 2850 max hp with visage and BC , 229 armor and 193 mr while you in team fight without counting rune and mastery whick can make it go even higher. When you revive. You have around 1112 hp(30% heal + visage) and you active Gargoyle stoneplate. you will have 2224 hp for 4 second with good amount of armor and mr . And you still losing 3476 hp which mean W will heal you around 400 hp per proc. 4 second is should be enough for you to proc it twice to get yourself out of danger zone. Even you don't proc W . Revive with nearly 60-70% of your original is still better than GA. The price is you have to sacrifice some damage for you survivability(even you receive 60% dmg penalty you still smack enemy with you % hp dmg and huge amount of attack speed . it still hurt abit.)

Played him for the first time after his 'adjustments' as a jungler. He was still awesome as the old one. his new blood well mechanic feels Darius-ish.

After these buffs from the past 3 patches i can safely say he is stronger then he was,though i still miss out of combat revive.I only played this guy few times in jungle,i'm playing him toplane a lot,besides he needs quite some gold to become dangerous and usually you won't be getting that much from jg.As for his laning phase,he is very oppressive with his heal early which allows him to have the best lane sustain of all toplaners,he can kill anyone early,including darius and renekton.Even though it says that his heal is constantly 6,5% missing health i noticed it increases quite a bit based on my missing hp.I used to take Warlord's but since it got nerfed Fervor is now better.I also tried Grasp on him once to try and increase his resistances if i were to go tanky but he just doesn't have enough tenacity a tank should have,that's why i build him offensive(IE,BT,PD,TF,BG),it just works better that way. EDIT: One more thing to mention,i think only bad Aatrox players take ignite top,there is no need,i always go with tp and flash

What are people running as their second summoner spell on him and where? I know in flash is a must (just too OP, if you play Flash anything anywhere Flash is a must), but what else? I haven't tried it yet, but I think I'll take ghost. Doesn't allow for the same type of all in as Ignite or maybe playmaking as teleport, but I always feel like Aatrox's biggest issue is getting in and out of fights and sticking to his target if they have more than one escape or he uses Q at the wrong time.

This new change is awesome. It lets him keep his passive up so much more and make it so much more reliable. He also heals for enough to finally make it possible to not go for lifesteal items on him (you will of course because BotRK is amazing for more than just the lifesteal, but it's now plausable). I think that this patch has made me like him slightly more than even before the rework in general. It feels like you're late game when it's early game. This is for jungle of course. I haven't tried him in the lane just yet. A bit of added healing can't hurt there.

I think it's just really weird how everyone here's complaining about how 'weak' he is. I think he's ridiculously broken. I just witnessed someone screwing the entire game with Aatrox. He just built full life steal and was impossible to take down, his cooldown was basically non-existent so you had no chance what so ever to escape him. I have no idea what you people are talking about, in my opinion he needs a serious nerf. Maybe you could kill him if you can stun him for 5 seconds straight so that he can't beat the shit out of you while you're close (and he WILL get close don't worry) and get half his life back by doing that. 'Cause his attack speed was insane, too.
